What We Work With

Fruit, nut & common trees

Not sure if your tree qualifies? Here's a guide to the trees we regularly work with — from heritage fruit trees to mature common species.

Small service fee — up to £200

Fruit Trees

Orchard with apple, pear and plum trees

Apple

Bramley, Cox, Egremont Russet — the classic British orchard staple.

Pear

Conference, William, Doyenné — elegant softwood with fine grain.

Plum

Victoria, Greengage, Damson — dense, richly coloured timber.

Cherry

Morello, Stella, Wild cherry — prized for its warm pink and red tones.

Quince

Rare heritage tree with fragrant fruit and distinctive pale timber.

Medlar

Ancient fruit with gnarled form and characterful hardwood.

Fruit trees are at the heart of what we do. We take cuttings before removal, clone them, and mill the timber into bowls, utensils, and furniture. A small service fee of up to £200 applies depending on size and access.

Nut Trees

Walnut

Premium hardwood with deep chocolate grain. Highly sought after for furniture.

Sweet Chestnut

Durable, rot-resistant timber with a warm honey colour.

Hazel

Traditional coppice wood — versatile for crafts and tool handles.

Almond

Delicate pink-tinged timber, rare in Britain. Beautiful for small turned items.

Nut trees follow the same cycle as fruit trees — cloned, milled, and crafted. Their dense hardwoods are especially prized by woodworkers. Fee structure is the same: up to £200 depending on size and access.

Standard tree service rates

Common & Standard Trees

Strong, flexible timber. We assess for dieback before any work.

Beech

Fine, pale wood ideal for furniture if milled promptly.

Sycamore

Pale, workable hardwood. Often overlooked but excellent for turning.

Horse Chestnut

Soft, easy-working wood. Good for carvings and decorative pieces.

Lime

Smooth-grained, pale timber. A favourite for detailed carving work.

Holly

Dense white wood. Traditionally used for decorative inlay and tool handles.

Yew

Exceptional reddish timber. Highly prized — worth milling if at all possible.

Standard trees are priced at normal tree service rates based on size, condition, and access. If you would like the timber milled or kept for a project, let us know — we can often arrange it.
